About The Daily Office
The Daily Office is a rhythm of prayer and praise and worship to the God Who made us.

The ancient practice of The Daily Office is over 4,000 years old. Psalm 119 says "Seven times a day I will rise up and praise you..." Their commitment to saying these ancient liturgies at set times throughout the day shaped and formed the failthful in times of joy and sorrow, enabling them to come to attention and listen to God.

Also called The Divine Office, Liturgy of the Hours, Opus Dei, Prayers of the Hours, and other names, the Office has been consolidated and today is generally considered to be morning, noon, evening, and night prayers. While each uses a different liturgy, they all follow a similar format or framework.

Each Office opens with a Versicle or Call to Prayer, followed by a Psalm of Invitation or Hymn. A Collect or Collective Prayer is read, after which a Canticle or Song of Praise is recited. The Lessons or Holy Scripture come next, followed by Prayers of Thanksgiving, then Prayers of Intercession for ourselves or others. The Our Father or Lord's Prayer is said, and the Office concludes with a Blessing.

Christians strayed from this ancient practice of the Saints of the Faith that held the church and community together, believing that extemporaneous prayers can be offered to God at any time. Many find this to be an empty, undisciplined prayer life. While we should always be willing and able to lift to God our prayers of thanksgiving and requests, a growing number are finding comfort, sprirtual renewal, Holiness, and a strengthened relationship with God and Christ using this daily practice of the faith, uniting them with those who have gone before and those who continue to take our place in the long line of the community of Saints.
